So, shortly after I started talking about design tips for mobile web applications on my blog, I realized that my blog is not optimized to run on mobile devices. Don’t get me wrong, the mobile web experience for my blog wasn’t bad when viewed on my Thunderbolt. But, I thought that it could be better, simpler and more mobile user-friendly. I didn’t have the time to tweak the design to account for mobile though. I guess that’s also the main reason I went with an existing template on WordPress rather than design my own, even though I have the design capability … But that’s besides the point.
After 5-10 minutes of poking around in the plugins section of WordPress, I came across one that did exactly what I needed; optimize my blog to run on mobile devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, Android phones, BlackBerry Storm & Torch and Palm Pre among other touch-based devices). The plugin is called WPTouch. I highly recommend it. If you’re looking at my blog on your mobile device, you’ll notice the difference. It is also highly customizable.
Enjoy!
